Description
It is blasphemy that Cvstodia is a cursed land, and The Game Kitchen creates the game. The game sets you right up in the middle of a dark, religious setting where you are but “The Penitent One.” The plot here is steeped in the lore of Spanish folklore and Catholic imagery – and again, the rather esoteric nature of the plot is a curtain of mystery –giving the player the discovery of the truth behind “The Miracle.”
Stunning Visuals and Atmosphere
The pixel art in Blasphemous is quite beautiful and very detailed; the gothic atmosphere of the game is present throughout. But the foes are as ugly and disgusting as any other in a video game, and the locations are as vast and deserted as one might expect from a post-apocalyptic world. The background music also contributes a lot to the thrilling and shocking environment of the game as it immerses the players in the game environment.
Challenging Combat and Gameplay
Blasphemous offers some of the most challenging combat fans can face in any game due to the game’s brutal setting. The current game’s fight mechanics are very precise-based, meaning that one has to observe the enemy patterns/ abilities and, most of all, be extremely alert. This way, the difficulty is more like that in Dark Souls, so each win feels like you fought for it.
Conclusion: A Dark Fantasy Triumph
Metroidvania enthusiasts who enjoy playing really hard games combined with a strong and grim narrative will love it in Blasphemous.
